CranioSacral Therapy
The CranioSacral Rhythm
Within each of us is a quiet tide—an ebb and flow of cerebrospinal fluid within the brain and spinal cord. This fluid, enclosed by protective membranes, nourishes and cushions the central nervous system. The bones of the skull must subtly move to accommodate these internal rhythms.
Accidents, surgeries, and emotional or physical trauma can restrict this movement, impeding circulation and triggering pain, tension, or mood changes.
A Gentle, Profound Touch
In CranioSacral Therapy (CST), I use a soft, sustained touch—about the weight of a nickel—to connect with this subtle rhythm. Placing my hands on areas like the feet, hips, diaphragm, shoulders, or skull, I tune into where motion is restricted and help facilitate release.
Contrary to the belief that deep healing requires firm pressure, CST works by listening rather than pushing. The result is often a deeply calming experience, as if the body is floating in a quiet, nourishing sea.
How CST Can Help
Over the years, CST has helped my clients recover from:
Headaches and migraines
TMJ and jaw tension
Whiplash and back pain
Pregnancy discomforts
Anxiety and trauma-related symptoms
Concussion and post-accident recovery
Focus Areas
-
CST supports the well-being of both mother and baby, encouraging optimal fetal positioning and relieving physical stress during pregnancy. I approach the work with deep respect for the innate wisdom of both mother and child. Partners are welcome to join sessions.
After birth, I encourage new parents to receive care themselves. A single session can help release lingering strain from labor and support the emotional adjustment to new parenthood. Babies, in turn, benefit from their parent’s greater ease.
-
With a feather-light touch—only about one gram—I use specialized pediatric CST techniques to ease tension from birth and support healthy development. CST can help with:
Nursing and latch challenges
Acid reflux and colic
Torticollis (twisted neck)
Plagiocephaly (flat or asymmetrical head shape)
General developmental ease and comfort

Years ago, I was struck by a bicyclist while walking in a crosswalk, fracturing several facial bones. Following surgery, I suffered from relentless headaches. I was skeptical that such a gentle therapy could help—but after my first CST session, I felt a surprising spaciousness in my head. After three sessions, the headaches were shorter. After ten, they were gone entirely.
This experience deepened my trust in the body’s wisdom and in the power of gentle touch to restore balance.

Dental work—whether a filling, root canal, or orthodontics—can strain the jaw, neck, and cranial bones. CST helps relieve post-procedure tension, improving circulation and promoting faster recovery.
Many children find it especially helpful after braces are adjusted, and adults report lasting relief from jaw discomfort.
-
Several professional vocalists have sought CST in my practice. By gently improving the alignment of the cranial bones and the musculature of the throat, CST can:
Enhance vocal resonance
Improve breath coordination
Ease jaw and neck tension
Increase overall vocal freedom and comfort
-
CST gently restores the relationship between the temporal bone and the mandible, offering relief from jaw pain, stiffness, and associated symptoms like:
Headaches and neck pain
Ear congestion and sinus pressure
Tight diaphragm and restricted breath
Tension along the spine
Poor nutrient flow to the brain
-
For five years, I provided CST at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Oakland. Adults with cerebral palsy and other complex conditions reported:
Fewer headaches and backaches
Reduced fascial tension
Improved mobility and comfort
Greater ease in daily life
Even small improvements made a meaningful difference in their quality of life.
-
Car accidents often leave the body in a state of shock and overwhelm. CST helps reset the nervous system, reduce anxiety, and support the healing of whiplash, back injuries, and impact-related trauma.
-
I have advanced training in post-concussion care. Many clients have experienced lasting improvements, including:
Clearer thinking and less brain fog
Fewer headaches and better sleep
Reduced neck and back pain
More stable moods and emotional resilience
Clients remain fully clothed during CranioSacral Therapy sessions. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing—ideally without sequins, rhinestones, or bulky embellishments, as these can interfere with gentle hand placement and comfort. Soft fabrics and relaxed fit allow for the most ease and flow in the session.
