Emotional Healing

A Gentle Path to Letting Go

Emotions live in the body. They may be stored deep in the tissues, waiting for a safe moment to be seen, felt, and released.

For those seeking a different path than traditional talk therapy, I offer a gentle, body-centered approach to emotional healing. My work blends SomatoEmotional Release (SER), as developed by Dr. John Upledger, with insights from Acupressure, where emotions and meridians are intimately connected.

This approach is highly complementary to psychotherapy and is often a powerful adjunct for people already engaged in counseling—or for those who feel more comfortable starting with the body.

Somato Emotional Release (SER)

The body has a remarkable ability to hold on to emotions until you are ready to release them. In the short term, this helps you function and move forward. But over time, these stored emotions can create tension, chronic discomfort, or a feeling of being stuck.

SomatoEmotional Release offers a way to gently access and release those buried emotional patterns. While you're resting on the table during a CranioSacral Therapy session, I use the body’s natural rhythms—particularly the CranioSacral rhythm—as a significance detector, helping me track subtle shifts in the nervous system and emotional tone.

If the timing feels right, I may invite you into therapeutic imagery or gentle dialogue. You might notice memories, sensations, or images arise. We follow those threads with curiosity and care—never pushing, only following what your body is ready to reveal.

Releasing long-held emotions isn’t always easy, but many people find it deeply liberating. They often describe a greater sense of peace, clarity, lightness, or connection to their inner wisdom.

“I trust that your body knows exactly when and how healing needs to happen. My role is to listen, support, and follow its lead.”

Listening to the Body’s Language

I’ve found that deep listening—to both the words you speak and the nonverbal language of the body—is where true healing begins. I'm especially attentive to the places where the body speaks what words may not yet express.

Because I don't push or require you to share more than you wish to, our work together unfolds at a pace that feels safe and respectful.

Meridian Emotions

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body’s energy flows through meridians—channels that correspond to organ systems and emotional patterns. Each Yin meridian, which nourishes and protects the inner body, is associated with a core emotion or set of feelings.

During a session, I may sense emotional imbalances expressed through specific meridians. With this awareness, I can gently support the body in releasing stored emotions and restoring energetic flow.

Here are the six primary Yin meridians and the emotional themes often connected with them:

  • Kidney Meridian
Associated with fear, anxiety about survival, insecurity, and exhaustion.
Often affected by trauma or long-term stress.

  • Lung Meridian
Related to grief, sadness, letting go, and the process of mourning.
Also linked to how we take in and release life—breath, experiences, and emotion.

  • Liver Meridian
Holds frustration, irritability, and anger, especially when emotions are repressed or when life feels constrained.
Also connected to our sense of direction and purpose.

  • Heart Meridian
Related to anxiety, insomnia, emotional vulnerability, and an overactive or restless mind. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the mind rests in the heart when we sleep or are in deep contemplation.
When the Heart qi is balanced, we feel centered, open-hearted, and calm.

  • Pericardium Meridian
The protector of the heart—this meridian relates to emotional boundaries, feeling overwhelmed, and unresolved heartache.
It governs how we open and close to emotional connection.

  • Spleen Meridian
Associated with worry, overthinking, and rumination.
Imbalances often show up when we feel unsupported, scattered, or drained from caregiving or overdoing.

As I listen to both your body and your words, I assess and work with your meridians. I may sense where an emotional imbalance is affecting your physical system—and support it in returning to balance through both touch and awareness.

Cell Talk and Deeper Awareness

In more advanced sessions, I may use a process known as Cell Talk, inspired by Dr. Upledger’s work and his book Cell Talk: Talking to Your Cell(f). By tuning in to specific tissues, cells, or organs, we invite direct communication—asking what they need in order to function more freely and with less distress.

This work draws from what I learned in Dr. Upledger’s trainings The Brain Speaks and CST and the Immune Response, and from my honor of serving as his teaching assistant during two of his final in-person trainings in San Francisco.

A Safe Space to Feel and Heal

You don’t need to have the right words. You don’t need to tell your whole story. You only need to be open to what your body is ready to release.

Whether you're dealing with grief, anxiety, chronic tension, or the aftermath of trauma, this work offers a gentle, grounded way to reconnect with your emotional body—and with your capacity for healing.

If you feel called to explore this work, I welcome you.
